Juneteenth: History and Memory

Joseph Locke speaks about the establishment of Juneteenth as an annual commemoration of the abolishment of slavery. Dr. Locke is a historian who specializes in the history of the American South and Southwest in the late-nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He graduated from the University of Texas and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Rice University, and currently chairs the department of Criminal Justice, Political Science and History at UHV.
